   कंबिनेट मिशन ने भारतीय नेताओं के समझा जो समझोते का प्रस्ताव प्रस्तुत किया , वह तय था कि मुसलमान तथा हिंदू बहुमत वाले प्रांतों के स्वायत्त समुदायों का एक अस्थायी शिथिल संघ में सम्लित कर दिया जाये और तुरंत ब्रिटिश स्वतंत्र उपरनिवेश का दर्जा दे दिया जाये , जिसमें अवसान किए जाने के अधिकार भी निहित हों .
