Even later, many scholars have effected changes in due course of time due to which we get many different manuscript slokas in bits and pieces; to solve this issue, the Bhandarkar Oriental Institute Pune, researched over all the manuscripts obtained in South Asia (around 10,000),compiled them, found out around 85,000 poems which were common to all manuscripts and published them with commentaries; the book with 13,000 parts in many chapters has been welcomed by all eminent scholars of the world.
   इसके बाद भी कई विद्वानो द्वारा इसमें बदलती हुई रीतियो के अनुसार बदलाव किया गया जिसके कारण उपलब्ध प्राचीन हस्तलिखित पाण्डुलिपियो में कई भिन्न भिन्न श्लोक मिलते हैं इस समस्या के निदान के लिये पुणे में स्थित भांडारकर प्राच्य शोध संस्थान ने पूरे दक्षिण एशिया में उपलब्ध महाभारत की सभी पाण्डुलिपियों (लगभग १० ०००) का शोध और अनुसंधान करके उन सभी में एक ही समान पाये जाने वाले लगभग ७५००० श्लोकों को खोजकर उनका सटिप्पण एवं समीक्षात्मक संस्करण प्रकाशित किया कई खण्डों वाले १३००० पृष्ठों के इस ग्रंथ का सारे संसार के सुयोग्य विद्वानों ने स्वागत किया।
