1. If we measure the three crossover ratios between A and B , B and C , and A and C , we may find that the crossover value between A and C equals either the sum of the crossover values between AB and BC or the difference between them .
   आ तथा भ्,भ् तथा छ् और आ तथा छ् के बीच के अन्योन्य गमन मानों को ज्ञात कने पर हमें यह दिखाई देगा कि यदि आ तथा छ् के बीच का मान आभ् तथा आभ् तथा भ्छ् के मानों के योगफल के बराबर होता हे तो दोनों में जो अंतर है वह Zबराबर होगा .

   यदि आछ् के बीच का अन्यान्य गमन मान आभ् तथा भ्छ् के बीच के मान के बराबर होगा तो भ् का स्थान आ और छ् के बीच होगा.परंतु यदि यह मान दोनों मानों के अंतर के बराबर है तो भ् का स्थान आ तथा ढ् के मध्य होगा.इस प्रकार , किसी गुणसूत्र में उपस्थित सहलग़्न जीनों के सापेक्ष स्थानों को निर्धारित किया जा सकता है .
