The larva mainly feed on a wide variety of various trees, bushes and herbaceous plants : Betulaceae, Umbelliferae, Ranunculaceae Cruciferae, Salicaceae, Dennstaedtiaceae, Crassulaceae, Urticaceae, Ericaceae etc.
The larvae feed on " Hedera helix ", " Kennedia prostrata " and Caprifoliaceae, Liliaceae, Oleaceae, Ranunculaceae, Rosaceae, Rutaceae, Salicaceae, Verbenaceae and Zamiaceae species.
"Pineda " is unique among Salicaceae in that the species have 4-5 sepals and petals, hermaphroditic flowers, receptacular disk glands ( = nectaries ), and outer filamentous staminodes.
