It seems that in the early days , before the mutiny , the Englishmen who came out to India , usually without their wives , lived on much more informal terms with Indians , accepting our ways and customs , and adopting a life-style which often earned them the title of an ' Indian nabob ' .
ऐसा प्रतीत होता हैं कि बगावत से पहले अंग्रेज , जो साधारणतया बिना पत्नियों के भारत आये थे , भारतवासियों के साथ अत्यधिक अनौपचारिक ढ़ंग से रहते थें.यहां तक कि उन्होंने अपनी जीवन शैली में भारतीय तौर-तरीकों ओर रीति-रिवाजों को इतना अपनाया कि उन्हें अक़्सर भारतीयनवाब का खिताब दिया जाता था .
